Vodafone UK was reportedly forced to close its call centre that handles iPad activation for Vodafone network due to the influx of customers who want their Vodafone 3G SIM activated. Early iPad adopters in UK were more than excited to use their newly received iPad 3G on Vodafone UK’s network but failed to do so on their own since Vodafone requires “on-call” activation.
Unfortunately, Vodafone UK may have underestimated demand for iPad activation which cause overloading on their network.
Other mobile carriers in UK which can be used on the iPad 3G are O2 and Orange. Only O2 users can activate their data plan by themselves on their iPad 3G settings.
