Camera Boost iPad App Review, Enhances Photos in Real-Time

Overview

Camera Boost is a new mobile camera app made specifically for the iPad 2. Don’t even bother looking for the iPhone version of the iPhone because there is none yet. Basically what the app does is to let you apply image enhancement and photo effects to photos before you even capture them. Your chosen effects and enhancements are shown in real-time ensuring that the photo that you are about to capture would look good in its final form. With its real-time updating feature, this makes the app worth of its claim of being the first LIVE image enhancements and effects camera for the iPad 2.

Functionality

Aside from its special feature of displaying photo effects and enhancements in real time, another feature that you will appreciate about this iPad camera app is the fact that it is so easy-to-use. The work flow is very straight-forward. The live camera is always on screen and it allows you to add as many effects as you want. You can even combine these effects and enhancements to produce great photos.

Features

When it comes to features, this iPad 2 camera app definitely has a lot. For its enhancements functionality, Camera Boost gives you several filters and stylish effects, including – negative, color negative, thermal and posterize exposures, photo detail enhancements such as soften and sharpen, color adjustments including saturation, color selection, hue, and colorize, and brightness, exposure and contrast enhancements. The app works fast when applying these various effects and photo enhancements. The result is immediately displayed, allowing you to take the shot as soon as you’re satisfied with the previewed output.

Camera Boost supports both the iPad 2′s front and back-facing cameras. So, you can apply the effects to your self-portrait shot. Aside from this, the app also allows you to share your photos via Facebook, Email, Flickr or save it to your iPad 2′s photo album.

Verdict

For being the first camera app made specifically for the iPad 2 and with real-time preview of photos – Camera Boost definitely deserves attention. If you’re looking for a nice camera app for your iPad 2 that will somehow improved the quality of its photo outputs, you will definitely  need Camera Boost. It’s not a perfect app and this is understandable. I prefer it to be not perfect because it definitely has more rooms for improvements. Perhaps in the succeeding updates of the iPad app, picture quality will still be improved and more photo effects will be added.

Camera Boost is available from the iTunes App store for $2.99.
